AMROHA: BSP supremo Mayawati at a public meeting in Amroha on Friday said that “goons rule the roost under the current BJP government and Dalits are still the most downtrodden”.
“Dalits have not been able to get the benefit of government schemes,” she said, adding that “both Congress and BJP are playing the caste game” and “just like BJP, SP is also an anti-Dalit party”.
Mayawati also slammed the BJP government for the “high rate of inflation” and unemployment. “Dalits and backwards have no jobs. Most of the government works are being carried out through the private sectors, all beyond the reach of Dalits and backwards. They are yet to receive government jobs as per the quota.” She added, “When BJP came to power, I thought it would do better, but it suppressed people in the name of religion, and is implementing the RSS agenda. Crime has also increased.”
In a bid to woo back the party’s voter base, Dalits and Muslims, Mayawati said, “The SP had stopped Dalit quota in government jobs. Muslims also need to know that during SP rule, riots happen and they suffer the most.” Mayawati further said, “If voted to power, no controversial law will be implemented. We will protect Muslims and give jobs to the youth. Farmers will get proper prices for their crops.”
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday had asked “Ambedkarites” to join the SP-RLD alliance “to save the Constitution and democracy”.
