level 2
I believe the statistics, but somehow when I’m in a roundabout it always feels a lot more dangerous than an intersection. Especially if it has multiple lanes inside the circle. Maybe that’s because I run into people who don’t know how to use it.
Or maybe that feeling of danger leads to more caution, which decreases accidents.

They’re pretty nice, but a surprising amount of people can’t figure out how they worklevel 2It’s the same people that can’t figure out how normal intersections work either, so nothing really lost.level 2They did this in the Warwick RI town center. I believe that the 80% drop in accidents was due to people that can’t figure out roundabouts just avoiding the town center entirely. Everyone hated it, but traffic was indeed much better.level 2I’m a fan of roundabouts and their efficiency but can’t convince my wife. My wife as an unnatural level of hate toward roundabouts for some reason, so I’m always tempted to make an extra loop.level 2From what i’ve seen, it’s not so much about figuring out how they work as it is being so anxious of doing it wrong that they fuck it up.Nothing like one person hesitating- oh shit, is that car coming this way or… – and bringing the whole thing to a honking halt.level 2I believe the statistics, but somehow when I’m in a roundabout it always feels a lot more dangerous than an intersection. How are you a state trooper and don’t know how they work?level 2Carmel was the first place I thought of when I saw the headline. Crazy amount of roundabouts in that area. And, yeah, some people just can’t seem to figure them out.level 2I got really confused by roundabouts with more than one lane. Never learned them in drivers ed, so…honestly I don’t blame people for not knowing. The government should do a better job of updating drivers before making large changes to roads/rules.level 2Are there more accidents overall then?Just not fatal accidents.level 2Hey I live just up the road in Lafayette lollevel 2I hate big rondabouts. Because they usually have stuff that compromises visibility.level 2I live nearby where they’ve been putting a bunch of roundabouts in recent years. Meh
