Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray with NCP’s Pawar
MUMBAI: Reacting to news of a rift between Shiv Sena and NCP, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday issued a statement saying he is not upset with home minister Dilip Walse-Patil. “Such news is wrong and meant to create rifts. I have full faith in my colleagues; they are doing a great job,” he said. Walse-Patil, who met the CM in the morning, denied any rift. “The meeting was prearranged; I will meet him again in the evening,” he said.
News channels have been broadcasting a source-based story alleging that the Sena is unhappy with the home department for not taking action against BJP leaders though complaints have been filed. They claimed Sena wants the home portfolio.
Sena MP Sanjay Raut criticised the home department saying it needs to take more firm steps as ED probes are an attack on it. Reacting to the criticism, BJP’s Sudhir Mungantiwar said Sena ask-ing for home portfolio is surprising as all departments are under CM’s purview. Later, Thackeray held a joint meeting with Walse-Patil and Raut.
