Dress in layers and bring a jacket.

That’s the main takeaway from the weather forecast for San Francisco from Friday through Sunday, when the annual Outside Lands festival is scheduled to take over Golden Gate Park with a lineup of musical acts, ranging from Lizzo to Tyler, the Creator, who will perform on outdoor stages.

Afternoon highs in San Francisco are expected to peak at 62 degrees near the water and 70 degrees inland Thursday.

On Friday, temperatures are forecast to be slightly cooler than they were on Thursday. Friday afternoon highs in SF locations near the water will likely hit 60 degrees, while inland spots like downtown could hit 65.

A weak cold front moving across the far reaches of Northern California is expected to push temperatures down even lower on Saturday, with afternoon highs in the high 50s near the water and low 60s inland.

“We may see a little more cloud cover on Saturday as the system moves to our north, but we won’t get any rain out of it,” said Sean Miller, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.

The weather and temperatures on Sunday will likely be similar to Saturday.

Miller added that fog is possible on all three days — more reason to bring a jacket.

This dry spell of weather comes after a powerful atmospheric river swept California and the San Francisco Bay Area on Sunday and Monday. Miller said the next chance of rain for the SF Bay Area is next week on Wednesday and Thursday.

“It’ll be another chance for us to get some measurable rainfall but this is nothing on the order of this past event,” Miller said.
