We all know that Joel Embiid will talk trash or troll anyone, future or current Hall of Famer or not.

So even if Kevin Durant has the upper hand with the number of rings the Brooklyn Nets superstar has, Embiid is going to talk smack after a Philadelphia 76ers win.

And, on top of that, it’s revenge! Durant waved off Embiid’s Sixers weeks ago, although both of them acknowledged Thursday night that this is all in good fun and that they respect each other and all that.

Let’s break it all down as we look at what went down on Thursday:

Back on Dec. 16, the Nets beat the Sixers 114-105. And Durant did this after scoring 34 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out eight dimes:

Here’s KD a couple weeks after he was incredible and the Nets beat the Sixers while super shorthanded. Not hard to figure out what Joel was thinking. pic.twitter.com/rA7HFa2o4j

More from The Athletic:

“If there was one player that I think is probably more talented than me, it’s definitely him,” Embiid said. “I have a lot of respect for him, and I admire his game. We’re just competitive. Wins matter. Every single one.” …

“I mean, judging by the way he was acting last time, that’s the same thing he told us,” Embiid said Thursday. “Basically, I returned the favor.”
