LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who arrived in Lucknow on Friday evening, addressed the 56th All-India DGP conference at the UP Police headquarters on Saturday.
The entire intelligence brass, including NSA Ajit Doval, IB chief Arvind Kumar and RAW chief Samant Goel, were also present on the occasion.
The PM arrived at the police headquarters at 9.35 pm and addressed all DGPs and heads of central armed paramilitary forces for over 90 minutes. Thereafter, presentations were made on counter-insurgency operations, darknet, drug menace. Other hot issues included occupation of Afghanistan by Taliban and its ramifications for India.
The PM was also shown achievements made by the UP Police since 2017. It included crackdown on criminals and their property seized. The state police also highlighted its outreach on social media in which it showed every district police handle having its Twitter account addressing grievances of citizens round-the-clock.
The PM also interacted with the DGs and heads of paramilitary forces during the lunch and high-tea organised on the ninth floor.
He stayed at the conference for over 12 hours, which insiders said was the longest ever stay of a PM at the meet. After having dinner with officers, he left for the Raj Bhawan after 9 pm. On Sunday, the PM will again reach the police headquarters to take part in the conference on the final day.
