The weather office has issued yellow warning on thunderstorm and lightning for nine districts of the State. The alert has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts.

Rain Drenches Odisha Amid Winter Chill, Yellow Warning Sounded For Nine Districts  

After several days of intense cold wave, rainy weather has once again returned to Odisha. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, several districts of coastal Odisha recorded light showers on Sunday night. 

The weather office has issued yellow warning on thunderstorm and lightning for nine districts of the State. The alert has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts.

There is also likelihood of rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorm in northern and eastern parts of the State. Moreover, some places in southern Odisha may also experience rainfall, the weather office said.

“Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at several places on January 24 (today). Yellow warning for thunderstorm and lightning has been issued for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur,” said Dr. Sanjeev Dwivedi, Scientist at Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre.
