Senate Passes $1.5 Trillion Spending Bill

The Senate on Thursday evening passed a $1.5 trillion spending bill, which will now head to Biden’s desk for signature. 

The bill passed the Senate in a 68 to 31 vote, Just the News reports.

Republican Senators who voted in support of the bill include Sens. Barrasso, Blunt, Moore Capito, Collins, Cornyn, Ernst, Graham, Grassley, Hyde-Smith, McConnell, Moran, Murkowski, Portman, Shelby, Thune, Tuberville, Wicker and Young. Sen. Jim Inhofe did not vote.  

As previously reported by Human Events News, the House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to pass the spending package – intended to be for the entire 2022 fiscal year – which includes $13.6 billion in aid for Ukraine and a 5.6 percent increase in overall defense spending, bringing the total to $782 billion.

The package also increases discretionary domestic spending by 6.7 percent to $730 billion and includes a formal end to the 2011 earmark ban.

Additionally, the package includes the Hyde Amendment, which bans federal funding for abortion.
