Hyderabad: The Division Bench of Telangana High Court, comprising of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice N. Tukaramji, has directed the state government to issue orders imposing restrictions on gatherings during Christmas celebrations, New year celebrations and the Sankrati celebrations.

The orders should be issued within 3 days as the new Covid 19 variant “Omicron” is spreading rampantly at a very fast pace.

The Bench, during the course of arguments, has pointed out that the Delhi and the Maharashtra government’s have already issued such orders restricting public gatherings during ensuing festivals.

The Bench further directed the state government to place screening facilities for the travellers at the inter-border states from where people enter into the state – as is being done at the airports – so that people affected with Omicron can be restrained from entering into the state.

The batch of PILs are adjourned to January 4, 2022.
