Pune: The French ambassador to India, Emmanuel Lenain, has announced that the fourth edition of the India-France cultural connect festival, Bonjour India, will be held as an on-ground event after a pandemic-induced hiatus across multiple cities in India, including Pune, in collaboration with the cultural outreach arm Alliance Francaise and its network of consulates as well several French and Indian corporate sponsors.
The organisers said that this year’s edition will celebrate 75 years since India and France established diplomatic relations through people-to-people exchanges, with 120 events in 19 cities. They added that the themes at the event will include performing arts, street art, gastronomy, cinema, literature, science and education, among others.
Multiple events are scheduled in Pune starting March 31, with the first event at The Box in Erandwane, a contemporary performance art piece inspired by the French novel L’Amour, by the Vietnamese-origin French novelist Marguerite Duras. It is also the only ticketed event of the Pune chapter. The organisers are also holding Indo-French classical music performances and a unique “cinema-on-wheels” event at the Max Mueller Bhavan on April 16, where art films will be projected onto a screen on the back of a rickshaw.
