Went to Walmart today, first time going anywhere without my wheelchair in 2.5 years! Very daunting but felt amazing to accomplish!

Last post blew up so fast so I’m gonna drop an information comment now!

April 2019 I caught bacterial meningitis (neisseria menegitidis) which caused sepsis. I lost both my feet and a few fingers. I got my first set of legs in April of 2020 but then I formed a large neuroma in my right leg and I had to stop use after only a month. After I recovered from that surgery I went to get a new set of legs and discovered a neuroma in my left leg! Had surgery in January of 2021. This sent me into a spiral of feeling like I’ll never succeed.

I then had months of fighting my insurance to cover my care and ended up moving to a new state at the end of April 2021. Then I spent time trying to find a new prosthetist and finally, 2 weeks ago I was given my first, well fitting, set of legs. I have come so far in these 2 short weeks, and I am more confident than I’ve ever been.

I can’t wait to see how well I am doing in another 2 weeks!
