Junior Teacher Aspirants Launch All-Night Dharna In Bhubaneswar

The Odisha Junior Teacher Aspirants’ Association (OJTAA) on Wednesday launched ‘all night dharna’ at Lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar demanding filling up of vacant posts of junior teachers in the State.

The OJTAA members alleged that though over 20,000 junior teacher posts are lying vacant in the State, recruitment has not been conducted since December 2016. They said that about 75,000 candidates, who are qualified to be junior teachers, are awaiting appointments.

“Advertisement for recruitment of junior teacher has not been released since 2016. Every year, students are passing the CT and B.Ed courses, but the posts are not being filled up. Therefore, our demand is to increase the upper age limits for the requirement of junior teacher,” said an agitating aspirant.

The protestors demanded the government to increase the upper age limits from 32 to 42 years and threatened to continue the agitation if their demands are not fulfilled.
