13 Countries, 45 U.S. States, Territories Receive Medical Aid Over Past Week.
Over the past seven days, Direct Relief has delivered 486 shipments of requested medical aid to 45 U.S. states and territories and 13 countries worldwide.
The shipments contained 4.2 million defined daily doses of medication, including specialty oncology drugs, diabetes management therapies including insulin, rare disease therapies, antibiotics, nutritional products, and ongoing Covid-19 support such as oxygen concentrators, and personal protective equipment, including gowns, gloves, masks and face shields.
Included in shipments that arrived last week were temperature-sensitive therapies for Covid-19 patients. The requested medications arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, at the request of the country’s Ministry of Health, and will be used to treat hospitalized patients with mild to moderate Covid-19 symptoms.
In the U.S., Direct Relief delivered 446 shipments weighing 6,177 lbs and containing 1.1M doses of medications.

Another recent shipment in the U.S. from Direct Relief included more than 14,000 bottles of Pediasure, Similac and Ensure, hygiene kits, Dove soap, and disinfectant wipes for Afghan refugees currently housed at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. The shipment was coordinated by a long-time Direct Relief partner, NOVA ScriptsCentral, a charitable pharmacy in northern Virginia, as well as Lt. Col. Natalie M. Trogus. Read more here.

Two Direct Relief supporters, Eli Lilly and Co. and Pfizer, Inc. were nominated for this year’s Citizens Award, presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The awards honor companies working to solve pressing challenges.
Eli Lilly and Company was nominated for their partnership with Direct Relief around the Life for a Child program that provides diabetes support to vulnerable children and young people in low- and middle-income countries that lack adequate insulin access. Pfizer was nominated for its partnership with Direct Relief to distribute nearly 2 million doses of overdose-reversing naloxone available at no cost to 834 U.S. nonprofit health care providers and local public health departments to address the opioid crisis.
Since January 1, 2021, Direct Relief has delivered 18.2K shipments to 2,249 partner organizations in 55 U.S. states and territories and 94 countries. These shipments contained 191.6M defined daily doses of medication valued at $1.7B (wholesale) and totaled 7.4M lbs.
