Coronavirus LIVE Updates: 6,915 Fresh Covid Cases In India, 14% Lower Than Yesterday

India Covid cases: The daily COVID-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 22 consecutive days.

New Delhi:

India on Monday reported at least 6,915 new COVID-19 cases–14 per cent lower than yesterday’s daily spike of over 8,000 cases. According to Union Health Ministry, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,29,24,130.

The death count climbed to 5,13,843 with 119 fresh fatalities, the data updated on Monday stated. Kerala added 46 deaths as backlog to the tally.

The daily COVID-19 cases have remained less than one lakh for 23 consecutive days.

The active cases, comprising 0.22 per cent of the total infections, dipped to 92,472, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has marginally improved to 98.59 per cent, the ministry said.

Railways Resume General Class Passenger Services Suspended Due To Covid

The railways on Monday announced the resumption of general class passenger services which were suspended due to the coronavirus crisis.

The railways had been running fully reserved ‘special trains’ during the pandemic to prevent crowding in trains so as to contain the spread of the disease. Even the general second class coaches, mostly used by people on short distances and from economically backward sections, were made reserved coaches.

“In trains already restored with regular train numbers, second class accommodation shall be earmarked reserved or unreserved as per applicability during pre-pandemic period,” it said in a circular.

Arunachal logs 14 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 64,427
Arunachal Pradesh’s COVID-19 tally rose to 64,427 on Tuesday as 14 more people tested positive for the infection, a senior health official said.

The coronavirus death toll remained unchanged at 296 as no fresh fatality was recorded, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Delhi zoo reopens, all tickets sold overnight
The Delhi zoo reopened for visitors on Tuesday after remaining closed for around two months in view of a spike in coronavirus cases in the capital, officials said on Tuesday.

The zoo was closed for the public on January 4 and the online ticket booking link on its website was disabled.
