NFT collection Alien Frens has announced a new airdrop as it gears up for the launch of V2. Alien Frens V2 is a new collection of 10,000 NFTs just for the current holders. The upcoming airdrop of incubators is what the holders will need to claim their V2.
“The incubator airdrop snapshot is getting closer frens,” the project tweeted earlier today. “Wait did we say airdrop?” However, it is yet to reveal the details of the airdrop.
Alien Frens NFT airdrop: What we know so far
Incubators and Alien Frens V2 are significant milestones of the project’s Q2 roadmap. Needless to say, both are free for holders. As per the roadmap the project shared on its Discord server, Incubator mint will happen on April 13. Everyone can mint one Incubator per a Fren they hold. Then, they can either hold the Incubator or use it to claim a V2.
Later, on April 15, V2 mint will go live. To claim V2, you will have to keep your Alien Fren inside the Incubator and wait for it to transform into a V2 variant. While you can keep your original Fren and the new V2, the project will burn the Incubator.
Sounds familiar? That’s because it is! Actually, Alien Frens’ new collection drop is quite similar to the Mutant Ape Yacht Club launched last year. The only difference? Instead of incubators, Yuga Labs offered holders three kinds of serums to mutate their Bored Apes. There too, holders could keep both the Bored Ape and Mutant Ape, while the serum was burnt.
Since then, Mutant Apes have become a blue-chip collection in their own right. Can Alien Frenz V2 enjoy similar success? Well, we’ll have to wait and watch.
