“McCarthy is a liar and a coward. He doesn’t have the ability to condemn the kind of bigoted, Islamophobia and anti-Muslim rhetoric that are being trafficked by a member of his conference,” Omar told co-host Jake Tapper

Pressed on why McCarthy does not have the ability to condemn such remarks, Omar said, “because this is who they are,” referring to the Republican Party.
“And we have to be able to stand up to them, and we have to push them to reckon with the fact that their party right now is normalizing anti-Muslim bigotry,” she added.
The clash between Omar and Boebert first broke out after video emerged of the Colorado Republican telling a story in September about being in an elevator with Omar, noting that the Minnesota Democrat did not have a backpack with her.
“Well, if she doesn’t have a backpack we should be fine,” Boebert said.
The incident, and a subsequent video of Boebert making Islamophobic comments about Omar at the same event, has ignited Capitol Hill, with Democrats calling for Boebert to be reprimanded, including being stripped of her committee assignments. Republican leadership, however, has not been willing to take those steps.
McCarthy on Friday said Boebert apologized for her actions, including personally, and had a phone call with Omar. Tapper noted, however, that Boebert doubled down on her comments after the phone call.
Asked by Tapper about if she thinks House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

Omar said Pelosi made a “promise to me that she will take care of this,” adding, “and I believe her.”
The Minnesota Democrat also knocked Boebert on Sunday, telling Tapper that it is “unbecoming of a congresswoman to use that kind of derogatory, dangerous, inciting language against a colleague.”
