I know this one, end up in the “loser group”.

But one time in my 4 years I actually cared about something, I argued with the group(I wanted to be invisible in highschool, so this was unlike me) it was government class, the subject was unions, we were the “working class forming a union and we were going to negotiate our contract”, my government teacher was a hardcore republican so didn’t do a great job at explaining what we SHOULD do. My mom worked for a union and had over years explained what we needed to do in small bits of talking about her union and the company. The teacher said to get a small list of demands made by the group and vote to organize them in order of vote most important to least, and vote what ones we were willing to give up. We then would pick a union rep to argue/negotiate for our contract.

Mom taught me make a giant list make sure you add things you have no desire, you need demands you are willing to give up.

My group would not listen to me and kept trying to make our list of demands small trying to remove my “extra” demands and vote each other’s demands off our list.

I said fuck it (in my head) and said we are going to keep the list complete and I would do it myself.

When it was time I got up and “presented our demands” to the teacher and the class, our list was well over three times as long as the longest list. We gave up stuff I added just to make our list long, I negotiate/argued with the teacher for stuff we didn’t want acting like our group could “strike”. In the end our group kept everything they really suggested and we even got things we didn’t want (stuff I added in to make our list long). After “negotiations” were done, while still in front of the class. (Not part of the assignment) I told the teacher, I bluffed and got more than our group’s actual core list, and I had added demands we didn’t vote on, or want, but it was something we could give up “next year” if the company wasn’t doing well.

I got the group an A.

…hmm I need to tell my mom about this.
