Let her know that hair is like an accessory. It’s like a hat, or a scarf. It’s not something that you have to have to be beautiful. There are many gorgeous people and animals that have no hair, like a Sphinx cat! She is still a person and a girl just like all of her friends and neighbors. Even flowers lose their pettles but they are still flowers and can be very beautiful.

Don’t treat her as a victim, don’t give her situation too much attention. Treat her as you would if she did have hair and looked “normal”. It’ll make her feel less like a spectacle. If she wants she can also wear many different colors of wigs! She can be her own version of beautiful and can change up her look whenever she pleases.

She’s young and kids are cruel, so I’d definitely pay attention to her mannerisms and behavior. If she’s willing to go to therapy that could help a lot! Maybe even take her to a place with lots of animals (like a ranch or a specific animal therapy place) to help.

What really helped me when I first lost my hair at 14 was love and support from my family. I liked to not focus too much on my situation and do things that I enjoyed, such as art!

Give her a big hug and kiss for me, tell her she’s beautiful and that there is another bald girl put there in the world that’s her #1 fan ❤️
